How To Get Your Articles Seen By More People

As the owner of 6 article sites and 4 article blogs, I am offering some tips to get your articles seen more. More views, more clicks, more money.

1. Proofread your article. Proofread your article. Proofread your article. You would not believe how many spelling and grammatical errors I see.

2. Follow the submission guidelines. Some sites allow links in the article, most don’t. Some sites all 3 links in the author's resource box, some allow only 1 or 2.

3. Check and double check your links in the resource box. I have seen many times where the HTML is incorrect and your link is not clickable. I also see improperly formatted HTML which will mess up the page. This is usually from not closing tags.

4. Many article sites automatically send email telling you that your article was accepted. Click the link, visit the site, and if you can social bookmark your article, do so. This will result in more links to you site and more people reading your article.

5. If you have a web site, link back to the article directory. This helps the article site with more links which will eventually result in a higher Google page ranking. This, in turn, will get more eyes on your articles.

6. If your article was declined, read the reason why. Most of us will tell you what the problem is. If the problem continues (like having too many links) I simply delete your account. I am not mean. I give many chances before I delete the account. Please, with all of my sites and looking at hundreds of articles everyday, it is frustrating seeing the same authors violating the same guidelines.

7. Establish yourself as an expert. Most article scripts have a setting for experts. Some set it at 10 articles. Some set it at 200. Just keep submitting

8. Keep submitting on a regular basis. An article a day or three to five per week.

9. Vary your resource box. Be personable and tell a 2 or 3 sentence story about yourself. Change them up for a little variety.

10. Write articles – not advertisements. I receive numerous short ads with tons of links and no content. Automatically deleted. This is just another form of spam.

Article marketing can be very profitable if done properly. It can be even better if you help us article directory sites help you. The more popular my sites are, the more your articles will be seen.

Tell your friends to post articles to my sites, social bookmark your articles, and link back to my article directories.

I am not asking you to click anything on my sites, buy anything from my sites – just post articles that the search engines will love and we will both benefit from. Thanks.

Twelve issues to resolve when selecting your web publishing program

Many of us have a dream of setting up a web site, whether for commercial purposes, or just because we want one. We lack the skills to do so or we are intimidated by the whole process.

It seems some of us come “hard wired” with an intimate understanding of computers, programs, even programming, and these folks can make the move to web site concept, development and building effortlessly.

The rest of us - and that includes this author - we are not as computer friendly. We think bytes are something you do when you eat J. We have to rely on information that we have located on this topic by reading books (horrors!!) or have found web sites and tried to learn about building our own web site on the internet.

This takes a lot of time. This is time that I’ve already invested. Here are some of the things that I’ve determined are important to help make your search for the best web site facilitating software faster and more rewarding.

How inclusive is the software? If you just want a web site, and really don't know where you'll go with it, or even if you have a predetermined destination in mind and visions of making money from your site, you will want an all-inclusive software program. That is one that will allow you to contribute to the web site only that which you are comfortable with doing. For must of us, that will be sharing information on an expertise that we’ve developed either in the work place, or through pursuit of a hobby. Your contribution might be as simple as writing all about your topic and the various subjects pertaining to it.

Will it help you write? A good program must provide guidance and help for those of us that don’t write particularly well, to assist us in presenting our information in a form that is pleasant for a visitor to read.

What tools? Your select web-development software must have tools. Tools to enable a rank novice to combine available elements from the software in such a way that results in a visually pleasing home page for the visitor to your new site. In other words, the software must include step-by-step instructions, in simple terms, about how to use the available content in the program to build a home page, and all subsequent pages that you would be proud to show the world.

What topics do I write on? An ideal web publishing program will “scan” the web for you, and tell you what words that people are using to find information on your topic. You, in turn, will write pages about that topic, making it easier for information searchers to find your site.

How do I link? Linking from your home page to all other pages, whether on yours or to other sites, must be simple and effortless. Navigation throughout the site must be handled by the software, and as your site becomes a bit more complex, a "broken link" reporting system to let the author know they've omitted or mistyped a connection is important.

Who's visiting my site? The software should provide almost real time reporting to you about how many visitors visit your site daily and differentiate between those that are unique, and those that have already been on your site that day. This is important information to provide you to prove that you are writing subjects that are on the right track, and also, when and if you decide to monetize your site, knowing how many visitors you get is also important to that process.

Do I need to understand html? The program must render html invisible to those that don’t want to use it and make using it for those that wish to seamless. I can tell you that in time you will be visiting the world of html effortlessly and painlessly, since you will learn some of it through osmosis, whether you wish to or not.

How will you support me? What will your program do for you when you’ve got a problem? Ideally, a support system that will bring you an answer to your questions within a reasonable length of time is critical. Regardless of how well written a program it is, the folks that put it together are already so far advanced down the path of program creating and using that I think it’s extremely hard for them to realize what it’s like for someone that knows nothing about the web. Therefore, their explanations of issues in the software may still be beyond the capabilities of most. I've still got my program's support address on my internet "speed dial"!

What about newsletters? Tools must be available in your software to allow you to publish newsletters, collect "sign-ups" for that newsletter, and provide forms into which visitors can enter questions for sending to you whenever they wish.

How about RSS? Even if you don't know what RSS (Real Simple Syndication) is, the software program must allow you to take advantage of this information distribution system, easily and effortlessly.

Pop-Ups? And whether we hate 'em or love 'em, pop-ups (windows that open on top of or under the already opened page) are here to stay. If there's a legitimate reason for having information pop-up, the system must make it easy to do so.

Monetize me, baby! How will you, should you choose to, make money from your web site? The software must lead you down the freeway to finances, to allow you to use the skills you have to generate financial return. How will this particular software allow you to do this?

As you while your way down the computer path to internet stardom with your new web site, there will be many more questions. For me, it seemed sensible to select one program that provides everything I can think of right now - and then offer so much more - than it is to try to integrate the requirements of building my site from a number of different software programs. One program that "does-it-all", provided it actually did everything necessary, had to be less expensive than purchasing many packages, and this has turned out to be the case.

Web publishing is fun, and can be rewarding. Good luck in the development of your site.

How to Get Spidered and Indexed Fast by the Search Engines

One of the most effective and powerful methods to promote your web site is with articles or what some call “Article Marketing”.

What articles have to do with promoting your site you might ask, well, a lot!

First, the Internet is providing a major thing to the web surfers and that is information or in other words content, you probably heard people say often that in the Internet marketing arena “content is king”.

Every web site owner need some content for his site, this content might be text, articles, audio info , video clips, Images, news feeds, graphs & charts etc’.

Google could be illustrated as a teacher standing in front of a class and asking a question (a surfer is making a search in Google), in front of our teacher seating millions of students all crying out load: “ I know the answer pick me! “ (the web sites trying to be first in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).

How our teacher is supposed to decide who of all those millions of sites might have a cleaver, concise or the right answer? Google needs some criterions to determine the quality of these web sites.

Google is using Page-Rank ( PR ) to determine the quality level of web sites.
It is known that one of the major factors they weight most heavily is the amount of other web sites pointing or linking to your site or “voting “ on your site.

Ok, so now you understand you need many other web sites to point and link to your site in order for your site to receive as higher PR as possible.

How to get one way back<-links to your web site

How would you cause or convince other site owners to place a link to your Site?

Actually there are many ways to do just that, Reciprocal linking directories, these directory sites serve as intermediates between web sites owners.

Sending emails to other sites webmasters, buying links from high PR sites, leaving comments at blogs with your signature, providing testimonials about products, books and services and at the end leave your back link to your site etc’.

How to get links to your sites is an article subject deserves its own article and is beyond the scope of this article, here we focus on Article Marketing.

What is wrong about reciprocal linking? Noting is wrong with it, the thing is the search engines are counting all the incoming links and comparing them to the number of the outbound links, the more links you have that are linking to you the higher The PR would be. Google is looking for natural linking if they see many reciprocal links they understand it’s an arrangement linking and not natural linking.

As you might imagine reciprocal linking is time consuming and I personally don’t have the time to peruse it.

The best method to get one-way links to your web site is by article marketing.

In every article you write at the end you should add something called resource box, in it you write your name few words about yourself and a back-link to your site! Yes this is the most important part in your article
.

What is Anchor text and how to create it

The back-link should be in the form of anchor text link, this is a text that describes your main theme of your site, underneath it “hides” the hyper link to your site.

Let’s say your site is about Credit Cards, then it is recommended you back link to your site by using the text: Credit Cards and not merely by using the straight forward URL address of your site.

It’s most important because this way the search engines associate your site with the theme of your site, that is because if many sites are linking to you using the anchor text: “Credit Cards” then the SE will determine not only that your site is important but that your site is important site in the field of Credit Cards!

It’s recommended to create few anchor texts keywords so you will gain credibility in more than a single keyword.

Creating an anchor text is very simple thing to do, all you have to do is:

- Copy the URL address of your site and paste it in MS word document. If it's live
link it would be in blue color text.
- Mark it and right click on it with your mouse.
- A menu will pop up, one of the options there will be” Edit hyper link”.
- Click on it and you will see two small windows the upper one will say visible
text to be seen, that is the anchor text you want.
- Type there your site’s main theme text (Credit Cards).
- Underneath it you will see a windows that will say actual link, there your
site’s URL address will appear, click ok at the bottom and you are done.
- Copy and paste the anchor text link to your Article resource box.

Distributing your article

I usually build my web site with one article of about 1,200 words, divided into three sections of about 400 words each. Why 400 words? because with 400 words you can cover in-depth subject. I will explain why I divide it into three sub articles later on.

After you have written an article and arranged the resource box, now you are ready to submit your article to article directories, there are many article directory sites and few with high PR article directories sites.

In each of these sites you will find Thousands of articles in hundreds of categories and sub categories.

Why all these authors submit their articles for free to the Article Directories sites?
you guessed it, they all need back-links to their sites.

On the other side of this coin there are the web site builders that have no time or talent or both and they need badly content to their sites, what do they do, yes, you guessed it right once again, they come to the article directories sites and pick a good article/s to put onto their sites for free, all this, as long as they keep the author’s resource box with a live hyper link to the author’s site.

Once your article is put into many article directories it starts to develop a life of its own. Web site owners paste it on their site pages, Ezine publishers might grab it to their electronic magazine, online as well as offline publishers and editors who are always on the look out for good content and interesting info might use your article for their needs. Bloggers can put it on their blogs and by that enables your article to be syndicated via RSS feeds all across the web.

The wide spread distribution of your article can bring some traffic to your site on its own merits and might even serve at time as alternative to SE traffic.

All this creates a snow ball effect that can build your site’s PR and establish you as an expert in your field.

This whole process takes some time and it’s gradual and that’s the beauty of it, SE perceives it as natural growth and rewards you accordingly.

This process is intensified as time passes by and new sites continue their marketing efforts and gaining higher PR and by that strengthening your site because now higher PR sites are pointing at it.

Important point I would like to make here though, SE notice in few months time that the content that is pointing at your site is a duplicate content and this fact weakens the effect but as long as you keep producing new high quality articles and repeat the process your site will rise in PR and continue to raise in the ladder to the top SERPs of the Search Engines.

In addition it is recommended to make few headers to your article in order to improve the chance to be published in various medias and to lesser the duplicate content effect.

This is why I mentioned earlier that it’s wise to build your article in a structured way of three parts, each of about 400 words, in some cases each part can cover different aspects of the subject at hand and be divided into three different Articles.

The best tactic is to make it in phases, send an article to the article directories every three or four weeks, don’t send it to all directories at once and not all your articles at once, keep your ammunition for the months ahead.

How to distribute your articles automatically

Article distribution is time consuming as well. There are two solutions to it, there are some software products that you pre-set and upload your articles and the software will automatically distribute them to your article directories of choice.

The second solution that in my mind is the preferable one is a web service that will distribute automatically your articles to not only the article directories but to thousands of publishers and editors as well as writing groups on the net and by that give you a better coverage and in addition it’s much quicker.

I usually start with up to six of the leading Article directories and then go to the automatic distribution service on the net which is free for a certain amount of distribution level. You can reach it through my web site.

Article marketing is the most power full method I know to make Search Engine notice your site and spider it, then increase the amount of back links to your site automatically and naturally and makes the SE index all your pages and provide you high PR and good placements at the SREPs.

Use this knowledge wisely and prosper.

Creating Online Marketing Business Opportunity

Within this article on creating online marketing business opportunities, we'll look at ways that you are able to build your online business through online marketing. There are many different ways that you can go around this so we will look at a couple of very good and low-cost ways to do this.

One of the best ways that you're able to market online at a low cost is through giveaways. You can do this in many different ways but one the best ways is to go to free forums and post that you have free giveaways at your website. You will want your giveaway item to be very low cost. By keeping costs low, you can post to these forums on a regular basis and receive steady traffic which can help you build your website. You'll be generating a great deal of traffic for yourself at a very low cost. There are many different ways to run a sweepstakes or a giveaways contest but many websites will have giveaways pursuant upon the fact that you sign up for their newsletter. Make sure that the people who sign up are ones that you want to target because your newsletter can be your greatest source of marketing.

Another great way that you can bring about more traffic to your website is through Adwords. Adwords is a form of advertising that is run by Google where you are allowed to bid on certain keywords that people search for. You can run your marketing using a budget and you'll know that you're getting the target audience that you want towards your website. One of the ways that you can work at saving and maintaining a budget using Adwords is to log into your Google account every day to see how much it is costing you to use your keywords. By looking at how much it costs for keywords, you can make sure that your marketing budget is right on track with what you should be. You can also get an idea as to trends developing with the costs of Adwords.

Hopefully this article on creating online marketing business opportunities will help you out. The first part of this article focused on online marketing business opportunities and how to build your business. A different angle on creating online marketing business opportunities is spotlighted now. There is a great deal of unused advertising out there which could be bought up at discounts on what online advertising firms normally charge. If you were able to find a great deal of this unused advertising and buy it at a discount, you could resell it to other companies looking to put more of their advertising out online and charge them a higher price. This is often known as advertising arbitrage where you buy the ad spots at a discount and then resell them at a slightly higher price but making sure that the people who ultimately by your ads are getting a very good discount. All parties win in this particular engagement. This gives you something to think about the next time that you see empty spaces on a website's home page.

How Much Can I Make summiting articles?

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage--at least it seems that way. If you've been thinking you need to know more about it, here's your opportunity.

How much you can make from placing articles and affiliate links on your website differs from person to person. How much you are able to make will depend mostly on how successful your site is. This means getting good search engine rankings through SEO efforts, making your site enjoyable and informative to read through engaging content, building your site around a great niche subject, how big your site is, and how many sites you have.

Some people claim to make as much as $10,000 per month ($120,000 per year) through building and promoting niche sites, however, most people should not expect this kind of success, especially if you are very new, as that kind of success usually only comes with experience and acquired skill. A reasonable income to expect from a niche site, after you have worked for months to gain traffic and are hooked up with good affiliates, may be $500-$1,000 per month. However this is recurring income, so you will make that much monthly off of the efforts you put into that one site, it is not a one shot deal.

It seems like new information is discovered about something every day. And the topic of Articles is no exception. Keep reading to get more fresh news about Articles.

After you have a successful site, most choose to continue to build niche sites. The more sites that you build, the better an income you can generate. Some also choose to build very fast and very short sites over sites that are slightly longer in length. It should be noted that the larger each of your sites are, the more income you will likely generate off of them.

When starting out, it is important to remember that your first site will always be your hardest, since you are just learning the ropes of the business, and that not everyone is cut out to market and promote niche sites. It may not work out for you and you may end up losing a little bit of money, but that is a risk that everyone in this business has to take.

The important thing is that you don’t give up without a good shot at it, if this is really what you want to do. Your first site may take a long time, the work may be tedious, and you may feel like throwing in the towel. However, if you give up too early, you will never know what could have been. And who knows, you may be the next great website marketer!

Take time to consider the points presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action.

Anatomy Of An Article Submission

Writing and submitting articles to publishers in order to promote your business, services and products is a wise choice for any entrepreneur. The only cost for this kind of marketing project is your time and, if you want the maximum benefits, the amount you pay your proofreader/editor.

Many people are overwhelmed by the submission process and don't know where to begin. I have outlined below the ten steps I take with each article submission project. Having a process in place makes organizing submissions so much easier and removes the confusion of where of what to do first.

1. Start by having your article proofread and then add it to your website. Make sure you have a catchy title and a by-line that compels readers to take action.

2. Use a text to html tool to format your by-line so that your URL will appear live when your article is posted on a site. I recommend you use the tool at http://thephantomwriters.com/link-builder.pl

3. Collect the information you'll need for most submission sites including: title, author name, address, phone number, e-mail, website URL, topic, two line summary of the article, word count, line count, article URL, auto responder address (if available), document file names and 10-15 keywords.

4. Make a list of the type of submission sites appropriate for your article. I use EzineAnnouncer to collect and keep track of my submission list and I always write down the categories that are a match for my article. My latest submission qualified for more than 400 sites but your success depends upon your article topic.

5. Begin submitting to sites that accept articles by e-mail. Never send an attachment unless asked. Incorporate the entire article into the e-mail and include an option for the recipient to opt-out of your list.

6. Your next step should be to sign-up for all new submission sites on your list that require registration. Typically, you have to wait for a confirmation e-mail before submitting. You can move on to the next step while you wait.

7. Submit to all sites you have registered for and to all sites not needing registration but offering a submission form.

8. Check your e-mail, confirm your new accounts and visit those sites to add your article. Keep track of your login and password for each site.

9. Update your submission list by removing or correcting bounced e-mail addresses and URL errors. You will also need to add your new submission sites to your list.

10. Create a report to keep on your computer with the name and URL of the sites you used for submission. Update this list when you submit your older articles to newly discovered sites.

Create your own submission process by building on the steps I have provided and you will find your submissions taking less time while helping you to become more organized.

Articles - They Really Work

Several years ago I began an online business.

At the time, the field I was entering was not all that crowded, search engine algorithms were much easier to manipulate, and links from relevent sites were not too tough to come by.

In short - if you wanted traffic, and were willing to do a little footwork, you could get it.

Over the past few years, things have changed.

Almost by accident, I stumbled upon a method for increasing, quite dramatically, the number of visitors to my website.

It turns out that almost everybody can design a really cool website...but very few people can write an interesting article. Writing is not a skill which is crucial in todays world, and very few can do it well.

(I, on the other hand, have the opposite problem...it's one of the few thing I can do well)

So, what is a webmaster to do if he wants to provide well written content to his visitors? Obviously, he needs to get somebody else to write it for him.

That leaves two options:

1. Pay cold hard cash to a professional writer.

2. Find a way to entice good writers to write good content for free.

3. Trade something of value for well written content.

My father once told me that there's no such thing as a free lunch. I believe he was correct, so option 2 is out.

That leaves paying or trading as the only viable options.

Most webmasters have opted for trading.

But what, you may ask, do they have to trade?

The trading arrangement which has evolved is one of wriiten content in exchange for a hyperlink.

Hyperlinks are gold in today's Internet economy. The more links a website has back to it, the higher it will rank in the search engines.

Therefore, if I, as a webmaster, can obtain several hundred relevent links to my website, my search engine rank goes way up, and I end up with a ton of visitors.

Do you see the possibilites? If you're a decent writer, you can end up having your articles published all over the Internet, with hyperlinks galore pointing back to your website.

"But how" you ask, "do I hook up with website owners who will publish my articles?".

Basically, there are several large article repositories online which will allow you to post your articles. Some of these are:

Go Articles
Article Beam
iSnare
Article Factory
Ezine Articles

There are actually quite a few more, if you do a search in Google.

Write a few articles, post them, and see what happens!

How To Maximize Your Article Directory Submission

You are ready to kick off your article marketing campaign. You have some great aricles put together and you've located the best directories to promote your articles. But stop!

There are still a few steps you will need to complete before you are really ready to begin submitting your articles to publishers and directories.

1. Make Your Article As Attractive As Possible

Is your article formatted so it is easy to read and/or scan with short paragraphs, subheadings, and bullet points? Are you using plain text and only plain text in your article?

2. Clean Up Your Act

Have you checked for spelling, grammar, and other surface errors? You will lose credibility with a lot of mistakes. Read your article out loud. You will be surprised how many mistakes you can catch with this method not to mention how many awkward sentences you can locate for revision.

3. Offer Useful Information

If you article offers an useful tip or a solution to a problem then make sure you highlight this in your headline and summary. Don't try to sell with your article. Sell yourself, your information, your expertise, and your experience, but not your products. In the long run you will gain far more exposure by selling your knowledge.

4. Keep It Short

The ideal length (studied by many experts in the field) is a word count of 250-500 words. If your article is twice this length then try to break it into two articles (and so on). If a 500-word article performs the same as a 5,000-word article why give readers more than they can absorb in an easy read.

5. Create Your Resource Box

A resource box is a small paragraph (directory and site requirements vary so keep it as short as possible) with your name, the name of your business, a short tagline, and most important the link to your website (in url form: http://YourSite.com). Don't get too lengthy but you might add at the end a one-three sentence pitch for your site that can easily be trimmed off if some directories have a low character count for the resource box. Don't forget to include a call to action here. For example, Find more advice from Deanna Mascle by clicking here... You an also include an anchor url related to one keyword or keyword phrase that you want to build backlinks for. Do not abuse or overuse this strategy. Rule of thumb for resource box is that it be no longer than 1/5 the length of your article. If this balance shifts too much it will affect your credibility.

6. Write A Summary

Many directories will ask you for a summary of your article so it easier to have this prepared before you begin submitting. Keep it short and succint. Usually just a few sentences.

7. Generate Your Keywords

Many directories will ask you for a list of keywords or key phrases for your article so it is easier to have this prepared before you begin submitting. I would prepare a list of 10-20 words (comma separated) with the most important first working down to the least important.

Once you've completed these seven steps you are ready to submit. Taking a few moments to complete these steps BEFORE you begin submitting will save you time and stress as you work through the submission process -- not to mention allow you to craft the most effective resource box and summary possible.

Free Viral Traffic From Article Marketing

Many newcomers to the internet, and in particular owners of websites, often have the misconception that site traffic comes at a financial cost. Well think again! Why not use article marketing to drive traffic to your website and increase link popularity in the process?

One of the major benefits of article marketing is the ability for a particular article to spread throughout the internet onto several websites, often referred to as "viral marketing". The effectiveness of this is highly dependant upon the popularity of the article niche and the quality of information contained in that article. However, it is important not to underestimate the power of this possibility. It is highly likely that your article will be picked up from article directories by tens, hundreds, and possibly thousands of website owners eager for fresh, informative content for their sites and ezines.

It is impossible to predict which sites will pick your article up, but it can be very exciting to find that an article that you wrote has been published by a site with PR (Page Rank) 5, 6, 7 or maybe higher.

The consequence is a link back to your site from a number of sites running your article, and an increase in targeted website traffic, for free!

Furthermore, once your article has been written and submitted to article directories, depending on the quality of the article directory, you can benefit from the same article for years down the line.

Article writing provides you with an opportunity to display your knowledge to others. Should you provide valuable information that readers find interesting, then you can benefit from two essential ways. Firstly the reader can directly visit your site to view the service or product that you have to offer, and secondly, the reader may wish to publish the article on their website as they'll feel it may provide good information for their own website visitors. This ultimately benefits all parties:

- Your article, with resource box containing your website link, is located on many websites. You are rewarded with website traffic and link popularity.

- The reader (publisher) that finds your article informative has free content to place on their website for visitors to read.

- The visitors to websites using your article, locate an interesting and informative article, which can lead them to more information (your website).

The power of article marketing is obvious, and if you are a website owner, you should certainly be using it to drive free targeted traffic to your website.

Hey Buddy, Watch Where You're Pointing That Article

by Ken Nadreau and Hubert Daul

Article Marketing has really taken off lately. Virtually thousands of articles are written and submitted every single day. This is mostly due to Google AdSense and the search engine's keen interest in relevant content.

So everyone's creating high yielding content for their AdSense sites and building significant back links by submitting their articles to high ranking article directories.

Profits are being made, people are being instantly turned into experts in their field, and the search engines are totally loving the constant flow of new content they can show their customers.

But there's one definite way you could completely "blow" the whole thing for yourself, and unfortunately far too many people are doing it lately.

You see, the key factor that makes all of this work is relevance. The search engines want to know that when someone does a search through their system, they'll get exactly what they're looking for. It's what all this talk of changing algorithms are all about.

The search engines are on a quest to find the best way to provide the most relevant material for any specific queries put in front of them, and so they keep changing their algorithms to fulfill their goal.

All we have to do is make it as easy as possible for the search engines to find this specific relevance on our sites and in the articles we write, and we have a marriage made in heaven.

Now when we speak of relevance, there are a number of factors involved. Sure, if you're hoping to get your site listed a the top in the search engines for "baking cookies," your site better be all about baking cookies, and you'd better have a lot of content about it too.

But there's more to it than that.

Even the links on your site should be about baking cookies because the search engines take those into consideration as well when they judge your site's over all relevance. In fact, if your site is about baking cookies and you accept links from sites about car parts, you're actually hurting the relevance of your site and lowering your page ranking.

Keeping this in mind now, there's a seriously unfortunate habit a lot of article writers have gotten into. There are just so many articles being written and submitted to the article directories, that many aren't paying attention to where their articles are being posted.

Most article directories have category choices that separate the content of their sites into specific groupings. These groupings are seen by the search engines as individual "mother lodes" of content. But this true only if these groupings or categories are actually relevant to one specific topic.

Which is why article directory owners have to work so feverishly to maintain the integrity of their categories.

So if you're submitting articles to them just for sake of submitting, you're not only giving them more work, but you're actually wasting your time and working against the intended purpose of article submitting in the first place.

If your articles get posted into the wrong category, it won't help you because your back link will be in an unrelated place. Plus the value of the category will diminish due to your article about "car parts" being in a category about "baking cookies."

This problem has reached a critical point. Either those submitting articles will have to work at being more accurate in category choices, or the article directories will have get smarter so they can catch irrelevant articles before they ruin things for everyone.

How to make the switch to working online part 1

How to make the switch to working online is going to be a short series on how to move from your 9-5 job to a life of freedom and flexibility of working online. This is how I made my move and how you can too, no BS involved.

First, it isn’t working online but rather playing online and earning money. If I did not love getting up in the morning doing what I am doing, I wouldn’t last a month. The biggest hurdle you have to overcome while pondering the thought of working online is to ignore what others have done to make money online and to do what you love instead.

When people first start out online, they look at the likes of John Chow and Jeremy Schoemaker and think, “I can do this.” What most people realize after about a month of trying is it doesn’t work out that way. Earning money online can be a lot harder than it appears.

First Step:

Start! I know that seems basic, but it is amazing that most people only think and talk about making a life change for the better. So get going and do it! Learn about the different ways you can make money online and what you are capable of doing.

Second Step:

Find what you love to do. Motivation is a huge factor in success. When you love your work, you aren’t working. Having fun is probably the most important aspect of doing what you love. Besides loving what you do, you will often know a lot about that particular niche, adding even more to your credibility and knowledge to the trends in that market. Knowing as much as you can about your niche market gives you the edge on top of the passion to pursuit it. It amazes me that even after blogging for a short period of time you will see so many other bloggers come and go as they slowly give up on their pursuit of money. It’s a pursuit of a dream that will carry you through.

Third Step:

Phase into your online work. I didn’t just wake up one day and start working online. I started by reading blogs. Then I started subscribing to blogs that I liked. I opened up a free blogging account on Blogger.com and other sites, learning the skills of creating a fluid site online. I learned how to and how not to make money online (selling ebooks is not going to get you anywhere unless you know how to market online well). Make the shift from part-time Internet entrepreneur to full-time self employed Internet marketer. Start small and allow yourself to have a life outside of the Internet and your work. As you grow and expand online, you will have to be the judge of when to quit your day job and pursuit your online business. I did this after roughly 4-5 months. I timed vacation and paychecks to give me the most coverage and financial buffer I could. This process wasn’t easy and I had to live on next to nothing for a few months in order to accomplish the transaction. I recommend saving as much money as you can before this part or already be generating a steady income stream from your part-time online ventures. Both are good ideas.

Fourth Step:

Find a balance in your life and establish a routine. It is a whole new world to work for yourself. There is no longer someone making sure you are accomplishing your work. You have to be your own boss. Treat your time as a commodity that you can no longer take back. Time is no longer worth a fixed dollar amount. It is equated in the terms of value added. You now get paid on performance and the value that you provide. It no longer matters how long it takes you to accomplish tasks in order to get paid but rather how much value you provide your customers. Never cheat your customers on value. You may find that in order to generate the income you want, you only spend 4 hours a day working for it. It is important to find that balance and treat that time like it is pure gold, because it is.

Fifth Step:

Diversify. The days where you set up a store front and sold hardware supplies to local people are fading fast. In a world that changes in a matter of minutes online, you cannot afford to be stagnate. As soon as you start generating a decent income from your flagship blog or virtual business, you should be creating the next. When you have 4-5 different but related businesses online, you protect yourself from failure due to lose of income. If one of those businesses or income streams disappears, you still have others to carry your through until your next idea is put into place. The winds of business change so quickly online that no one knows for sure what the next year will bring. If people claim to know, they are lying.

Sixth Step:

Give back. Giving back is a crucial part of business and branding. Giving back doesn’t always have to involve money, it can be in time to help charitable causes, giving advice to others, talking with and answering questions from customers, sending thank you cards and notes and just about anything else. Never forget where you were at one point, and remember to give credit to those who helped get you there.

Boost Your Readership - How To Make Ezines Work For You

I quickly learned that writing articles and submitting them to online publications was a great way to attract new readers and gain experience as a freelance writer.

I have been fortunate to have several of my articles published on high trafficked websites and have made some wonderful new friends as a result of submitting my articles to these free ezines.

Here's the resource box I include at the end of my articles:

Rose DesRochers is a published poet and freelance writer. Rose has been writing poetry for more than 20 years. She is also the founder of http://www.todays-woman.net, a supportive online writing community for men and women over 18. She is also the Assistant Administrator of http://www.invision-graphics.com.

What you are giving is your permission for the publisher to publish your article in exchange for a byline at the end of the article. The byline is about four lines of text about yourself, including a link to your website.

Whenever I write an article, I first publish it on my own website and then submit it to ezines. Ezines will not take the time to edit your article, so make sure that you proofread it before submitting it. You may want to have someone else go over your article for errors before submission.

Here are some ezines where you can publish your articles.

articledashboard.com
isnare.com
articleblast.com
boazepublishing.biz
articlecity.com
goarticles.com

You may also wish to search through ezinesearch.com for publications that will be interested in the genre of articles that you write.

Websites are constantly looking for free content to re-publish. Many webmasters search article directories such as articledashboard.com in search of content to publish on their websites. The number of ezines online is growing everyday. I’m constantly receiving invitations to submit articles to new ezines.

Writing and submitting free articles is a great way to gain exposure and increase your income when people want to hire you to write content for their websites.

It won’t be long and you will be recognized as an expert in your field.

Article Marketing: Is It Worth It?

Having your website rank at the top of the search engines will provide you with a stream of traffic ready to read, buy or interact with your site. Getting this high first page ranking in the main search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN is extremely difficult and not to mention, time consuming.

Search engines take considerable notice of how many and the quality of incoming links to your site. Traditionally, webmasters have sent out link requests, asking to exchange links, this however is becoming more and more ineffective as people's email addresses are spammed by automated robots.

Method savvy internet marketers are now using article submissions. Here is how it works. The webmaster writes an article on the topic of their site, including a back link to their site. They then submit this to various article directories. In turn some of these article directories list this article and its back link, and also distribute it to all their members. Some even pass this onto other article sites.

This can manually take a long time however. A lot of copying and pasting of articles has to happen, you have to log in and log out of sites, and the whole thing can be very tedious. Over the past 6 months new products have been released that take some of the tedium out of article submissions. These semi-automatically go to the relevant sites and submit your article, logging in for you and populating the forms with your article. They can be a great time saver.

Finally there are new services that actually go off and submit your articles for free to other large directories. They advertise on your article page on their site. This is a win-win situation. The article writer gets valuable backlinks to their site or their content read by many people, the large article directory gets the extra content and advertising revenue, so everyone is happy.

We highly recommend article writing for marketing your site, it may take a little time but with the services outlined here it need not be so painful as it once was.

Article Marketing: Getting Paid For Your Hard Work

If you are like me and you write articles for a living, then you know that you must get paid for all of your hard work. Payment can come through customers who have hired you to write, through pay per click advertising, or through banner or text ads you place on your site next to your articles. Regardless of your approach, a consistent and methodical plan is necessary to have in place in order to make a living for all of your hard work. Please continue reading for some helpful tips to help you survive in this highly competitive business.

Submit Freely. Much of the work posted online bearing my name is freely shared. I do not get paid for what I write. I look at article marketing as a joint partnership between me and the article directory. They get my articles for redistribution and I get healthy back links to my site. In addition, the article directory can make money off of ads that show up next to my articles such as Google AdSense or Yahoo! Publishing Network type ads. Furthermore, I get my name out there and can point potential customers to the article directories to show them how prolific a writer that I am.

Submit Jointly. Some of the articles I have posted online are for clients. They have my name on them as my name is more visible than their name. I write as a “contributing writer” but I am a freelancer, not an employer. I get paid for my work and they get some decent links.

Do Ghostwriting. The overwhelming number of articles I write are ghostwritten. In 2005, I submitted 450 articles to article directories, but another 1200 or so went directly to my clients. When I submit articles jointly, I retain the rights to having my name on the articles. When I ghost write, my customers get what I write and retain full rights to the articles. Guess who pays me more? Bring 'em on!

Bill Immediately. You can write like crazy for paying customers but still end up broke. How? By not billing customers immediately. Whether you use direct billing, Paypal, or an “agent” such as Guru, you are penniless until the first invoice is paid. Come up with a plan to get your money as soon as possible too. You don’t want to have to wait for weeks unless you like being in the credit business!

Keep Marketing. I have busy times I have slow times. During the slow times, I catch up on my paperwork and I write. During slow times I submit many articles to the article directories to keep my name out there. Regular submissions keep me “front and center” and help build up SEO for my site. Yes, I have my own site at www.thearticlewriter.com where most of my best work is featured. Not every article, but those articles where I have full rights to them and ones I want my customers to look at when they review my portfolio.

So, that’s it. Five simple tips to help you make a living from article marketing. If you are good at it, you will make a decent living writing for others. I doubt you will get rich unless article marketing ends up being a stepping stone to something else -- such as, writing your own Harry Potter style series of books!
